Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Teacher, coach announces his candidacy for U.S. House

(Statesville Record & Landmark) - A longtime high school teacher and football coach announced he will throw his hat in the ring for a seat in the U.S House of Representatives.

Democrat Roy Carter announced on Monday that he plans to run for the District 5 seat now occupied by Rep. Virginia Foxx.
