Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

King tries to prepare for future

City officials will sign a contract for water-treatment-plant design

KING (Winston-Salem Journal) -
As water and drought problems grip the attention of local and state government officials, the city of King is getting ready to sign off on a $17.6 million water-treatment-plant construction project.

On Monday night, the city council plans to sign a contract with an engineering company for a preliminary design of a new water-treatment plant and improvements to the existing plant, which will give the water system the capacity to treat 6 million gallons of water a day.
