Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Hillary Drops Celine Theme...

(ABC News) - Less than 30 days before the critical Iowa caucuses, there's a shake-up in the Clinton presidential campaign. Hillary Clinton and Celine Dion appear to be parting ways.

For months, the soprano headlined Clinton's, D-N.Y., campaign appearances as Dion's "You and I" served as the former first lady's campaign theme song...

...The song played on, from Iowa to South Carolina, without missing a beat. But, now, only the sounds of silence can be heard from the Clinton camp's Celine CD.

Instead on the trail these days, Big Head Todd and the Monsters are in and their "Blue Sky" is seemingly the campaign's favorite as the New York Senator enters and exits the stage.

Well, at least she's consistent: her musical taste sucks. Celine Dion? Big Head Todd? Please!

Hey, Big Head Todd's a whole lot cooler than Celine!

Hillary had to recognize that she's too close to the female diva club, and divas can be annoying. Who can hate rootsy-rock crooners with dirt on their boots, a la Big Head Todd and the Monsters? That's nearly as All-American as Mellencamp. (And besides, Celine's a French Canadian!)

Speaking of Johnny Cougar, when Chevy's finished with "This Is Our Country," which primary candidate will scoop up that gem? It would work just as well for Edwards as it would for Huckabee, IMO.

If I was running for president, I would come out to Elvis' intro. When I left the stage, the announcer would say, "Andy has left the building." Ha! :-)
