Dismissed police chief plans grievance

He claims wrongful firing in Walnut Cove by the town manager

WALNUT COVE (Winston-Salem Journal) -
The town’s former police chief, Barry Conaway, hasn’t disclosed what prompted his firing, but he does say that he plans to file a grievance with the town.

Town officials will not discuss reasons for firing Conaway, citing personnel laws.

Conaway didn’t return phone messages yesterday but sent an e-mail saying that because he was not allowed to make a statement to the town’s board of commissioners at a special meeting Friday, the board could not have determined whether he was treated fairly.
