Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Fired Walnut Cove Police Chief Speaks Out

WALNUT COVE, N.C. (WGHP) – Former police chief Barry Conaway publicly confronted the town council for the first time since he was fired by town manager Homer Dearmin.

Conaway was fired January 7, one of Dearmin's first acts as town manager.

He claimed his firing by Dearmin was unjustified. Dearmin has not publicly explained why he fired Conaway, neither has Mayor John Hodgkins.
