Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Baker leaving pastorship, stepping up at Bible college

(The Stokes News) - After serving Calvary Baptist Church of King as pastor for 32 years, Pastor Roger Baker preached his last sermon as Senior Pastor Sunday morning, stepping down to step up as vice president and administrator of Calvary Baptist Bible College.

During Sunday’s evening service, the church celebrated Baker’s transition with a special program that included speakers from Baker’s past, a video presentation of Baker’s tenure during the church, as well as gift presentations from visitors N.C. House Rep. Bryan R. Holloway, Congresswoman Virginia Foxx and the mayors of King and Tobaccoville.
