Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

High court censures judge

Ruling, suspension stem from not disclosing business relationship

MOUNT AIRY (Winston-Salem Journal) - The N.C. Supreme Court issued a censure yesterday against Judge Mark Badgett, a District Court judge in Surry and Stokes counties who is running for re-election.

He will be suspended for 60 days.

Badgett is being publicly condemned for misconduct relating to his failure to disclose a business relationship with an attorney who appeared before him on many cases.
