Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Report: Police showing photo

It may be of possible suspect in student's death

CHAPEL HILL (AP) - Authorities investigating the slaying of UNC Chapel Hill’s student-body president are circulating a photo of a possible suspect.

A Durham police watch commander, Sgt. L.B. Evans, said late yesterday that his department had received a photo of a possible suspect.

Chapel Hill’s police chief, Brian Curran, refused to comment last night when asked about the photo, saying only that police don’t have the names of any suspects in the death of Eve Carson.
