(Wilmington Star-News Online) - A couple of hundred feet below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean Just a few miles off Cape Canaveral, Fla., hatches on the PCU North Carolina are secured, and Capt. Mark Davis gives the command to dive. The captain's command is verbally acknowledged, buttons are pushed, a joystick moves forward, and a computer screen shows small waves washing up against the lens of the photonics mast, a modern version of the periscope. Finally, the screen shows nothing but a blank wall of seawater.
