Bully Pulpit

Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Joines will get help on panel

2 council members to give advice on selections for ballpark oversight group

(Winston-Salem Journal) - Mayor Allen Joines said yesterday that council members Vivian Burke and Robert Clark will help him recommend who should serve on a baseball stadium oversight committee.

When the city council recently decided to create an 11-member panel to review the building of the stadium, it gave Joines the task of reviewing the applications for the committee and making recommendations to the council.

That didn't sit well with some critics, because Joines has been an avid supporter of the stadium.
