Stokes County NAACP President Arrested On Sex Charges
Larry Lash Being Held Under $1.5M Bond
STOKES COUNTY, N.C. (WXII.com) - The president of the Stokes County Chapter of the NAACP has been arrested and charged with multiple sexual crimes.
On July 13, Larry Alexander Lash, 54, was taken into custody without incident at his residence at 1030 Old Highway 65 in Walnut Cove. His bond is one of the highest ever set in Stokes County -- $1.5 million.
Due to an investigation involving allegations of sexual assault, Lash was arrested from warrants obtained in reference to the following charges: six counts of statutory rape or sexual offense, two counts of intercourse and sexual offenses with certain victims, two counts of first degree sexual offense and two counts of incest.
When officers from the Stokes County Sheriff’s Department arrested Lash on Monday, they also found five firearms and multiple rounds of ammunition at his residence. This resulted in an additional charge for Lash -- possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Further charges are expected in this case.
Lash’s first court appearance was Tuesday, July 14.
