Rush Limbaugh's Morning Update: Bigotry
From Rush Limbaugh: Recently, the libs went nuts over that poster of Obama in whiteface and smeared red lips -- a direct takeoff on the Joker character in the Batman movie, The Dark Knight. Printed under the Obama-as-Joker image was one word: "socialism." Liberals pounced, leveling knee-jerk charges of racism, and spinning conspiracy theories about the poster's origin.
In a long treatise in the Washington Post, Phillip Kennicott described the artwork as a "racially charged image," a "subtly coded" "racial and political argument." Kennicott linked the poster to whites' supposed racial fears, quote: "Obama, like the Joker and like the racial stereotype of the black man, carries within him an unknowable, volatile and dangerous marker of urban violence, which could erupt at any time. The charge of 'socialism' is secondary to the basic message that Obama can't be trusted, not because he is a politician, but because he's black."
Update: The Los Angeles Times found the artist. He is Firas Alkhateeb, a 20-year-old American with Palestinian roots. The University of Illinois history major was tinkering around with Photoshop and came upon an online tutorial on how to "Jokerize" portraits. The guy can't stand Bush; not impressed with Obama either. He's a Dennis Kucinich fan! He claims someone else added the word "socialism" to the image.
Folks, if you want to find racists in America, look left -- where liberal ideology portrays life through racial filters. And the sad part is, these culprits will never admit their own bigotry.
