Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

(By Leslie Bray Evans, The Stokes News) - Two items on the action agenda at Monday night’s Stokes County Board of Commissioners meeting dealt with fire-related issues. One of these items was the Lawsonville Volunteer Fire Department’s request, made at a previous meeting, to finance a pumper-tanker. The commissioners voted to approve this request on Monday.
