Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Jenny Sanford files for divorce from governor

Michael O'Brien, The Hill: South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford filed for divorce on Friday morning from her husband, the embattled Gov. Mark Sanford (R).

After seeking for months to reconcile with her husband after he admitted having an affair with a woman from Argentina, Jenny Sanford released a statement announcing the couple's split.
