Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Rush Limbaugh's Morning Update: Attack!

Rush Limbaugh: The Democrat attack machine has revved it up again – this time with a new "job creation" effort. Hundreds of new employees have been added to the federal payroll – no doubt garnering six-figure salaries – with a specific mission: Seek and destroy the wealthy. Obama's IRS has set up a special unit to catch rich tax cheats – who are supposedly hiding their wealth behind complex business entities.

In addition to new hires, Mae Lew – special counsel for the IRS –says the unit has "drawn top talent" from within the agency...who "have expertise involving wealthy individuals." The unit will target those of you who have trust funds, real estate investments, or are owners of privately-held companies or other business entities. Doug Shulman, IRS Commissioner, says the anti-wealth unit will be part of an international effort – focused on "the entire web of business entities" controlled by high-wealth individuals. He says that while sophisticated business structures might be legal – they could also "mask aggressive tax strategies."

To help crush the rich, new IRS offices will be opened in China, Panama, and Australia; Japan, Germany, and the UK are also creating their own "high-wealth" units.

Now, let's be clear. I'm not defending tax cheats. If they're caught, they should be punished. But these same Democrats will never expend half the resources used to attack the private sector – to root out corruption and cheating and illegal gains – by those in the government sector. Ill-gotten government wealth – is the only wealth...beyond reproach.
