Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Audio: Forsyth County’s Board of Commissioners Walter Marshall says that the Christian Right are racists



“In my case the same folk who are pushing for the right to pray are the ones who were opposed to desegregation. …I’m talking about the Christian Right, the Christian Right were the same folk who opposed, in the name of Jesus, segregating the public schools, they were opposed to district elections, they supported a submissive role for women and for blacks in government.” - Walter Marshall
