The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Whitman’s Press Event in Oakland Goes Awry



(TPM) - Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, a candidate for the Republican nomination for governor of California, had an awkward encounter with the press Tuesday: Inviting reporters to an appearance she was making at a railroad facility, then not letting them ask any questions, and finally having security escort the media out after they persisted.
