The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

‘Should Pay Their Fair Share’: UK Sets 50% Tax Rate for High Earners



“We've not raised these taxes out of dogma or ideology. We're determined to ensure our overall tax regime remains competitive. But I believe, Mister Deputy Speaker, that those who have benefited the most from the strong growth in incomes in past years should now pay their fair share of tax,” Mr. finance minister Alistair Darling said.
