Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Hot-dog carts prove problem at new stadium

BB&T Ballpark

(By Wesley Young; Winston-Salem Journal) - Forsyth County health officials have put a last-minute nix on hot-dog carts that were to be used at tonight's home opener of the Winston-Salem Dash at the new, $48.7 million BB&T Ballpark.

County Manager Dudley Watts said he learned from team President Jeff Lassiter that Forsyth County Health Department inspectors had approved the cookers, but not the carts that were to be used by some of the vendors inside the park.

The team quickly put together a plan B, and hot dogs will be served from carts, said team president Jeff Lassiter. Lassiter said carts that have the required permits will be leased from other vendors and used to sell the Dash's hot dogs at tonight's game.

"We have a solution in place," Lassiter said.
