Rush Limbaugh's Morning Update: Payoff!
Rush Limbaugh: Iowa Democrat Tom Harkin -- chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee (how good of a job is he doing?) -- wants to spend more money that we don't have. He wants another $23 billion to be forked over to skrools and public colleges so they can avoid giving pink slips to union members.
The legislation introduced by Harkin matches legislation that's moving though the House, and has the backing of Education Secretary Arne Duncan, who says it will "avert an education catastrophe" (which is what our system actually is). Duncan predicts somewhere between 100,000 and 300,000 teachers will be laid off if nothing is done before May or June -- oh, no! "This is not something you can do in October," he warns.
Now, wait a minute. The first Porkulus bill sent close to $60 billion to local and state governments to prevent education layoffs. But Harkin says that even with this support, skrool districts and colleges still laid off workers, and the job outlook is worse for the 2010-11 skrool year. Harkin says that even with the $23 billion he's proposing, there will still be layoffs -- but it won't be so bad.
Notice something. The Democrats are focusing like a laser beam on these jobs while millions of non-union Americans are standing on unemployment lines with no prospects in sight. The truth is, this so-called crisis' isn't about education jobs at all -- it's about Democrat Party jobs. The multi-billion-dollar bailout is "needed immediately" for union members in order for them to donate tens of millions to Democrat campaigns; the money is just going to come back to the Democrats.
This is nothing more than a thinly-veiled election-year payoff. Do not doubt me.
