Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Billy Graham looking to preach one more sermon

CHARLOTTE (AP) - Aging evangelist Billy Graham has a desire to preach one more sermon.

Graham spokesman Larry Ross said Tuesday that it's not yet clear whether the vision will become a reality. Ross said Graham and his son, Franklin, have considered doing a video sermon but no specific plans have been made regarding time, location or format.

Graham's last crusade was in New York in 2005. He has spent most of his recent years confined to his home in western North Carolina and continues to battle a range of ailments.

Ross said Graham reiterated his hope of delivering another sermon when he visited Charlotte last month for the reopening of his namesake library.
