Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Roy's Folks: Mayberry Trading Post



(By Roy Ackland, FOX 8 News) - The Mayberry Trading Post has been a fixture along what is now the Blue Ridge Parkway since 1892, having served as a post office until 1922. Visitors can now buy local arts and crafts and homemade food items.
