BB&T Ballpark Named 'Ballpark of the Year'

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) - BB&T Ballpark has been named "2010 Ballpark of the Year" by BaseballParks.com.

BaseballParks.com presents the annual award to the new baseball stadium with the best combination of superior design, attractive site selection, and fan amenities.

BB&T Ballpark beat out several other new parks for the award, including the Minnesota Twins' Target Field.

The award will be presented prior to the Dash's first playoff game on Wednesday, September 8.

"We would like to thank the fans here in Winston-Salem for helping make the inaugural season at BB&T Ballpark a tremendous success. Without them and the hard work of the people who designed and built this beautiful facility, winning this award would not have been possible,"said Team President Geoff Lassiter.

Through 64 games, the Dash has averaged 4,584 fans and a total of 293,297 fans attended games this season.
