Stokes County (NC) School superintendent could see salary increase--School board reviewing Hobbs’ contract

(By Leslie Bray Evans, The Stokes News) - Controversy has arisen over a decision to increase the salary of Dr. Stewart Hobbs, Stokes County’s Superintendent of Schools. In the annual review of the superintendent’s contract, the Stokes County Board of Education reached a consensus to raise Hobbs’ pay via various avenues. His base salary of $129,870, however, would remain unchanged from 2009-10.

The contract has not been finalized at this time.

“The Stokes County Schools has made great progress under the leadership of Dr. Stewart Hobbs as superintendent,” read a statement issued by the school board.
