North Stokes High School Teacher Charged With Intoxication, Public Consumption

Deputies: Witness Saw Teacher Urinate On Fence

STOKES COUNTY, NC (WXII The Triad) - A former assistant football coach and math teacher at North Stokes High School was arrested on Oct. 15 at a football game, authorities with the Stokes County School System confirmed Monday.

Deputies said Gil Carroll, who had been relieved of his coaching duties before the game, was charged with being intoxicated and disruptive and public consumption of alcohol.

He was then fired from his teaching duties, school officials said.

Deputies said a witness saw Carroll urinate on a fence. An off-duty deputy also told WXII that he heard Carroll cursing in public.

Carroll's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 15.

North Stokes High School was hosting West Stokes High School at the time.
