Randy Wolfe issues apology, no longer focused on state campaign

(By John Peters, The Mount Airy News) - Randy Wolfe, the Democratic candidate for the 90th NC House of Representatives seat, issued an apology Monday, a day after he was jailed on his second DWI charge within 24 hours.

While not withdrawing from today’s election, Wolfe said Monday night he is focusing “on other things” rather than last-minute campaigning as he seeks to battle what he said was alcoholism.

“I want to express how sincerely sorry I am for my mistakes during this past weekend,” he said in a written statement issued Monday. “It is impossible to convey the hurt I have caused to myself, my family, friends and neighbors. I am a recovering alcoholic and thought I had put that chapter of my life behind me.
