Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Sen Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) on Sarah Palin: Lacks ‘Leadership Qualities’ and ‘Intellectual Curiosity’

Seidl, The Blaze) - Lisa Murkowski’s interview with Katie Couric last night has started to gain some attention, mainly for Murkowski’s comment that Sarah Palin lacks the “leadership qualities” and “intellectual curiosity” to be president. That’s about as exciting as the interview (regarding Palin) gets.

For the most part, Murkowski stays diplomatic. But after Couric prods, she slips up and makes the sound-bite statement. Below is the full uncut segment:
