Stokes County Commissioners Giving 6 Million To Forsyth Tech
(By Brent Campbell, WGHP) - Stokes County Commissioners are serious about education, they've agreed to give Forsyth Technical Community College $6 million for a “brick and mortar” structure to be built on the college’s Meadows site in Walnut Cove. Construction on the Forsyth Tech Stokes County Center building will begin in January 2013. The building will be the college’s first permanent facility in Stokes County.
Stokes Commissioners approved the money as part of a $26.5 million school capital projects package voted in earlier this week. This package, which funds school construction and renovations from the elementary to community college level, is part of a long-term educational initiative designed to meet the future needs of the county’s growing population, address overcrowding issues, and support economic development in Stokes County by attracting new businesses with assurances of an educated and skilled workforce.
