Police Say Forsyth County Sheriff Bill Schatzman Ran Stop Light, Caused Three-Car Crash

No charges filed against sheriff

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WGHP) -
Police say Forsyth County Sheriff Bill Schatzman failed to stop for a red light while driving west on Fifth Street when he struck a pickup, which slammed into a third vehicle, officials said in a release.

Seventy-one year-old Donald Taylor was driving the truck. Police say a witness told them Schatzman's car failed to stop for the red light, hit Taylor's truck and pushed it into a second pickup.

The wreck occurred shortly after 3 p.m. at Fifth and Main, police said. No injuries were reported.

No charges have been filed.
