Bully Pulpit

Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Stokes County Commissioners pass school capital project ordinance - Controversial item added to agenda that night

(By Leslie Bray, The Stokes News) - The Stokes County Board of Commissioners may have voted on Nov. 8 to incur debt to build and renovate schools, but the issue is still a controversial one. This was proven at Monday night’s regular commissioners meeting in Danbury as the Board was faced with whether or not to approve a capital project ordinance submitted by the Stokes County Board of Education.

The ordinance was eventually approved by a 4-1 vote, but not without much discussion and opposition from Vice Chair Ernest Lankford.
