UNC not planning self-imposed sanctions for now

CHAPEL HILL, NC (AP) — University of North Carolina chancellor Holden Thorp says there are currently no plans for self-imposed sanctions on the school's football program amid an NCAA investigation into agent-related benefits and academic misconduct.

Thorp said Thursday morning that the school has essentially completed its investigation and that "we feel good about where we are."

Thorp's comments came shortly after he, athletic director Dick Baddour and coach Butch Davis updated the school's board of trustees on the investigation.

Davis was making his first appearance before the board since the investigation launched over the summer, saying he was "embarrassed and saddened and disappointed" for the way the probe has cast a negative spotlight on the school.
