Deputy Firings Continue in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WGHP) — The number of deputies fired by Forsyth County Sheriff Bill Schatzman continues to grow,

In the past seven days, Schatzman has terminated 10 deputies without any reason given.

According to a law passed in the late 1800s, Schatzman has the right to fire any deputy he wishes.

County officials estimate it will cost anywhere between $700,000 and $1 million to replace the deputies.
