The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Elizabeth Edwards Dies at 61



CHAPEL HILL, NC (WGHP) — Elizabeth Edwards has lost her six-year battle with cancer at the age of 61.

A family spokesperson said that she died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in her Chapel Hill home. She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her passing.
