The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Sacramento Kings’ Tyreke Evans Hits Buzzer-Beating, Half-Court, Game-Winning Shot

(By Glenn Davis, SportsGrid) - If this doesn’t spark the Sacramento Kings to bigger and better things, nothing will. Just 5-23 heading into last night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, it looked like the Kings were on their way to an especially heartbreaking loss when the Grizzlies’ O.J. Mayo hit a jumper with 1.5 seconds left for a 98-97 lead. All the Kings had time to do was heave up a half-court desperation shot, which Tyreke Evans did.

And it went in.
