The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

South Main Street upgrades moving forward in King

(By Jeff Sykes, The Stokes News) - What a lot of people see as a big hassle on the main drag in King should end up improving life for drivers and businesses along South Main Street once all the work is complete.

But the waiting game, whether it be for the project to be finished or just to pull out of a business during construction time, is wearing thin on some folks’ nerves.

The first half of the project is nearing completion, according to Jeremy Guy, assistant resident engineer with the NC Department of Transportation. The second half should go smoother than the first half of the project, he said.
