Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Students, Parents Tour New Nancy Reynolds Elementary School



STOKES COUNTY, NC (WGHP) — The children of Nancy Reynolds Elementary are going back home for the first time to the school they left a year and a half ago. The historic school, which experts considered beyond repair, is now completely rebuilt.

On the outside, students return to a replica of the original 1923 school. But, on the inside, 21st Century technology abounded.

"I was just overwhelmed with happiness," Mary Ellen Martin, long-time teacher, said.
