Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Yadkin Co. Sheriff Mike Cain Pleads Guilty, Resigns

Retired Forsyth deputy replaces Cain



YADKIN COUNTY, NC (WGHP) — Yadkin County Sheriff Mike Cain plead guilty to 9 misdemeanor charges and tendered his resignation on Wednesday.

Cain plead guilty to 9 charges including conversion of public property, public officer benefiting from public contract, willful failure to discharge duties and private use of public vehicle.

Due to the plea agreement, Cain was sentenced to 60 months of probation. The terms of the probation include paying court costs, paying county restitution in amount of $20,000, paying a $250 community service fee, paying a $1,000 fine and complete 200 hours of community service.

If Cain violates the probation, he could go to jail for up to 90 days.
