‘Hooters’ Hullabaloo: MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski Offended by State Rep Julia Hurley's (R-TN) Success Story
(By Mike Opelka, The Blaze) - This is a story you will 'not' see on MSNBC, more on that later.
29 year old Republican Julia Hurley is a Southern Baptist, a member of the NRA and a former Hooters Girl. Ms. Hurley also defeated an incumbent Democrat to win her seat in the Tennessee State Legislature and she credits her time at Hooters Restaurant with helping her accomplish that feat. The article penned by Hurley appears in the “Orange Pride Spotlight” section in the latest edition of Hooter Magazine where she shares some of her thoughts:
This story has all the markings of a classic LIFETIME (television for women), made-for-tv-movie. Pretty Southern girl with big political dreams gets pregnant at 15, has to waitress at Hooters to support herself and her young child, works her way through college (still working at Hooters) while raising her daughter. The single mom decides that she must do something to solve the illiteracy problems in her town and to help bring more jobs for the people, so she runs for office and defeats an incumbent who tried to make her past employment an issue. A triumph of the single woman over the system.
So why won’t this be seen on MSNBC? Because Mika says so.

“I have taken quite a bit of flack from the public at large during my run for State House in Tennessee for being a Hooters Girl,” she said. “But I know that without that time in my life I would not be as strong-willed and eager to become successful.”...
