The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Obama Chides Media Over Budget Debate: ‘Let’s Face It, You Guys Are Impatient

(By Colby Hall, Mediaite) - During President Obama’s press conference today in which he addressed yesterday’s federal budget presentation, the tone turned a tad contentious between the President and reporters in attendance. The normally cool and calm Obama seemed frustrated with the suggestion made by NBC News’ Chuck Todd that the administration was ignoring recent bipartisan goodwill to effectively cut deficit spending. Obama bristled “If something doesn’t happen today, the assumption is that it isn’t going to happen.”
