Sexual assault by former Wake Forest player alleged

(By MICHAEL HEWLETT, Winston-Salem Journal) - A former Wake Forest University student told Miami police investigators in 2009 that WFU basketball player Gary Clark sexually assaulted her in a hotel bathroom while teammate Jeff Teague stood outside the door, according to a police report.

No criminal charges were filed against the players. On Thursday, the student will tell her story on NBC's "Today" show with the support of the National Coalition Against Violent Athletes as part of a larger story on sexual assault on college campuses.

A letter posted online at the BloggerSoDear.com website for Wake Forest fans purporting to come from the student's mother says school officials swept the incident under the rug and took no disciplinary action against the athletes after an internal hearing on campus.
