Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Camera Catches House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) Lighting Up During South Lawn Picnic

(By Jonathon M. Seidl, The Blaze) - It’s well known that Speaker of the House John Boehner is a regular smoker. He‘s defended it in the past and said he’s not going to quit. But even knowing all that doesn‘t mean it isn’t a little odd to actually 'see' him lighting up. And it’s even more odd to see him lighting up on the South Lawn of the White House.

But that’s what happened yesterday when Boehner attended the annual congressional picnic:
