Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Newsmaker: Ziggy's Jay Stephens

(WGHP) - Jay Stephens will open up the newer, bigger version of his legendary Ziggy's on July 29, bringing in those big acts once again.

The new venue will open up on North Trade Street on the north side of downtown Winston-Salem's Arts District. It started on Baity Street and was named after a bartender who worked there many years ago.

The old venue held 750 people, but the new digs can hold a total of 1,220 people.
