Owner Noticed Animal Missing Wednesday
COLLINSTOWN, STOKES COUNTY, NC (WXII) - Rescue crews in Stokes County rescued a 3-month-old calf that fell down a 15- to 20-foot well, Stokes County EMS Director Monty Stevens said.
The incident happened at a farm off Collinstown Road.
Stevens said the cow's owner had moved his herd on Wednesday from one pasture to another.
He noticed that the calf was missing on Wednesday, then discovered the animal down the well on Thursday morning. Stevens said the well was covered and hadn't been in use.
It took crews several hours to rescue the animal, which was finally hoisted from the hole at about 1:15 p.m.
Crews constructed a frame and used several pulleys to raise the animal to safety.
