Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Wausau mayor to unions: Pay up if you ban Republicans from Labor Day parade

(By Ed Morrissey, Hot Air) - Yesterday I wrote about the decision by the Marathon County Labor Council to ban Republicans from the Wausau, Wisconsin parade on Labor Day.  The mayor of Wausau has responded with an ultimatum to the union board — reimburse the city for all costs or reinvite the Republicans.  WSAW reports on Jim Tipple’s challenge to the union activists and the potential for an end to the Labor Day parade altogether:
