Chris Christie Addresses Columnists Who Say He’s Too Fat to Be President

(By Christopher Santarelli, The Blaze) - Since barreling onto the national the scene in 2009 by unseating incumbent New Jersey Democratic Governor Jon Corzine, weight has always been bearing down on the public image of Chris Christie. The issue came up once again when the larger than the life politico was speaking at an event in Washington Monday hosted by the Washington Post and Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Governor Christie was one of seven recipients of the Top American Leader award. In addition to sharing his insights on leadership philosophy and offering blunt opinions of leaders in Washington, the Post reports that Christie’s weight became a subject once again.

Christie told moderator Mary Jordan that columnists, some of which write for the Post, are “idiotic” to say he’s too overweight to be president. Speaking of commentators‘ open criticism of Christie’s physically fitness and allusions that it means that “he’s undisciplined,” Christie said it is still very much an issue in this country and “It is one of those last remaining vestiges of prejudice and stupidity.”
