NC High School Wrestler Paralyzed During Match
ALLEGHANY COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A dominant North Carolina high school wrestler is now paralyzed from the neck down after breaking his neck during a wrestling tournament Saturday in Lenoir.
According to his brother, Luke Hampton, a senior wrestler at Alleghany High School, suffered the injury during the Jamie Tutle Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
A Caldwell County Schools spokesman said Hampton charged his opponent with his head down and his momentum carried him into a wall. The impact broke his neck in two places, the spokesman said.
