Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

House criticizes Senate's tax cut for the rich

From the Winston-Salem Journal:

N.C. House leaders say they aren't likely to accept a $798 million tax package that cleared the N.C. Senate yesterday, partly because it raises sales and cigarette taxes while reducing taxes for the wealthy and corporations.
