I think that's exactly the point with Private England. By all accounts, her problem was that she wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. I don't doubt for a minute that she honestly believed this was a valid training scenario and never even thought of questioning it. Like it or not, the military loves this kind of person. I met literally hundreds of them during my time in the Navy. And like it or not, they are the reason you still speak English today.
Just so you'll know, in combat situations, questioning a command under any circumstance will get you dead. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't believe what Hollyweird tells you on that count. I can't comment on your suitability for Army life, but I can tell you that your Army career would likely be very short.
