Re: Reading Is Fundamental
I said: I’m not here to defend the ‘Chinese Communists,’ but calling them stupid is probably not the best choice of words.
Steve said:Nope. Looked through everything I posted this month. Can't find a single place where I said that.
Har, har, okay. I'll admit when I'm wrong. You insinuated that the 'Chinese Communists' embraced stupid ideas, not that they were stupid. But it's not my fault; I'll just cop out and blame it on those darn old public schools.
You're still as slippery as a fish, though.
One more point, and I vote to bury this horse's rotting carcass unless anyone has anything else interesting to add.
Understanding why criminalizing abortion won’t end abortion takes only a bit of simple reasoning:
If suddenly next week, Steve stopped posting on this board, we’d all go, ‘Where’s Steve?’ He would be missing. When someone elects to have an abortion there’s no missing person. It’s not like the lady across the street has a baby today and tomorrow she doesn’t. A disappearance is obvious; there’s someone, and now they’ re gone. Terminating an embryo is an outwardly invisible act. That’s why simply making the act of abortion illegal will never accomplish what even the most well-meaning anti-abortion activists hope for. Abortions will continue to happen indefinitely because they are virtually undetectable to society.
So again, that’s why we need to do a better job of educating our children on how to prevent unwanted pregnancy and help them in doing so. That's really the only way to truly alleviate this problem.
