Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Bush Signs $286.4B Highway Bill

Not only doesn't Bush get it, but Congress doesn't get it either. ... The federal government shouldn't be in the highway business anymore anyway... They should leave that up to the states. ... I think I heard that for every dollar in the federal gas tax North Carolina sends to Washington, we get only 82 cents back. ... The federal government should eliminate the federal gas tax all together. ... Just my opinion. :-)
